Drake & Ariana Grande Top Spotify’s 2018 ‘Wrapped’ Streaming Stats

Spotify announced stats from their annual year-end Wrapped report showing that Drake and Ariana Grande took the music streaming world by storm in 2018. Drake is breaking records and shattering ceilings as Spotify’s most streamed artist of all time with 8.2 billion streams. Ariana Grande took the top spot as the most streamed female artist of 2018. Both artists have had incredible releases, albums, EPs which propelled them forward and profoundly entertained listeners in 2018.

Drake’s “Scorpion” holds its own as the most streamed album, while its song “God’s Plan” stands strong as the most streamed song of 2018. Drake was also the platform’s most-streamed artist in 2015 and 2016. Additionally, Ariana Grande’s recent release “thank u, next” has become a global hit, earning 220 million streams of its own.

Other artists who made the Top 5 lists of most streamed artists included Post Malone, Cardi B, Dua Lipa.  J Balvin also claimed the fourth spot on the list, which highlights the rise of Latin Music in the charts. Still the genre that topped Spotify’s charts in 2018 was Hip-Hop.
